How much to take down a load bearing wall?
While answers such as "IT DEPENDS ON MANY FACTORS" or "YOU NEED TO GET A CONTRACTOR/STRUCTURAL ENGINEER TO LOOK AT THE WALL" or "I CAN'T JUST GIVE YOU AN ANSWER WITHOUT VIEWING THE STRUCTURE" are all valid answers, I would simply love for anyone that has had a load bearing wall removed or a contractor that has removed a load bearing wall before, to give me the amount THEY ACTUALLY PAID or WAS QUOTED.
If you've never had this work done or been quoted an estimate or know of a friend who had the work done AND know the amount they paid or was quoted, please don't answer, as it will be of no use.
FYI: I am planning on talking to a contractor and I am NOT planning on doing this myself, but just want to prepare myself for typical prices.
THANKS!
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling9 years agoCan I dispute this negative information on my credit report?
I didn't pay a $5 cell phone charge in 2007 and it turned into a $250 bill 3 years later (big and stupid mistake on my part). It was sent to collections, and in 2010, when I was trying to buy my first house and was checking my credit, I saw that it appeared on my credit report. I paid it and was able to buy the house. Now, two years later, I am trying to buy a second house and have found out that it is still on my credit. This new lender I am trying to use (lower interest rate) wants it off before I get the loan. Is this issue something I ca dispute get removed, or does it count as accurate negative information that is allowed to remain on my credit for 10 years?
5 AnswersCredit9 years agoCan an employer ban someone from using all of their leave at once?
My boyfriend would like to take off three weeks for the birth of our child but his employer is telling him he cannot take off longer than two weeks. He has 208 hours of leave for the remainder of the year (which amounts to 26 days or about 5 work weeks) so he has enough sick and vacation leave to cover the three weeks and he has been with the company for over 5 years.
Can his employer legally deny him of using his leave when he wants to use it?

1 AnswerOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoIs there anyway to salvage or fix my tough steak?
Well I tried to cook a steak today and it turned out tough, so I was wondering if there is anyway to salvage the meat. Or do I have to just drench it in A1!? :)

1 AnswerOther - Advertising & Marketing1 decade agoShould I follow up on my resume?
I've heard employers don't necessarily like it (though this company did not post in on the job listing, as some companies do), but I want to know the status of my resume. It's only been a week, but I guess I'm restless and impatient. I sent my cover letter and resume via the general email (ie. careers@soandso.com) but have found the email of head of the department I am trying to join. Would it be bad decorum to surpass the HR department and email the head of the department? If so, would it be equally improper to call the company's general number and ask the HR department to discuss my resume status?
As an HR employee or a head of a department looking for a new employee how would you feel if I contacted you?

2 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoAre police officers required to give badge numbers if requested of them?
Well I'm pretty perturbed by the story of Dr. Gates being arrested for attempted to break in to his own home...but while I was reading it, I saw that the police officer requested ID and it was given, but when Dr. Gates requested a name and/or badge number, it was not obliged...I just want to know if police are required and the cop was being a dick, or if they really don't have to give that type of information

I'm looking for wedding dress ideas that flatter my figure...I'm about 5'1 140 lbs...I'm a little more heavy on the bottom in the hips and thighs... I am told that empire waists are the only flattering wedding gowns for curvy girls but want more suggestions...I know I'm bigger than most wedding gowns are made for but I'm not a plus size woman (size 10) and most plus size dresses are for people 5'8 and taller... Need something that flatters a shorter than most and curvier than most figure...any suggestions are good suggestions...pictures, websites, or stores (preferably i the DC, DMV area) would be ideal
