How long is long enough before dating again?

My boyfriend and I broke up about a week ago. We'd been dating for about a year and a half. It's been coming for a while, so I'm not hugely broken up about it, but I do feel lonely and don't want to jump into a relationship or any kind of dating too soon. How long - minimum - before you guys think it is appropriate to start dating again. And please don't say I'll know when the time is right. I'm kind of an impulsive person, so I do better if I set a minimum required time before I allow myself to date to keep myself out of trouble.

    Dear Wallflower:

Well, like you said, it is easy to say "you'll know when the time is right" but seeing as your situation is unique, I'll suggest this: give yourself a month. A good solid month to clear your head, and put your life back in order. You'll start filling the gaps that were occupied by him in your daily routine. Since you knew this was comming, and, as you said, aren't too broken up by the whole thing, I'd simply say that if someone of interest presents themselves within this timeframe, just pace yourself & keep yourself fropm getting into a "rebound" situation! Best of luck!
