does closing vents save on electrical bills?
We live in Arizona and we're trying to save on our electrical bill cuz our bill is pretty high. We have 2 bedrooms that we don't really use (we go in every now and then to grab something from that room), so would closing the vents to those rooms & closing the doors to those rooms help save?

Not really. The more the air circulates the better your chances of saving a few bucks. Kick the t-stat up a couple of degrees and get some fans if you don't already have some. We knocked about $200 off our bill each month last summer by doing that. We installed solar screens over the windows a few months ago, so I'm anxious to see what, if any, effect they have on the bill. We're in west Texas, so it's pretty hot here....over 100 for the past week or so.

I do the same thing. You must put something at the bottom of the door, like so that the air does not get in and out. So now the vent is closed and the bottom of door is blocked off from air going both ways....Now your saving on your electrical bill. Also let me let you in on the main thing here when it comes to your electric bill. You need to change the air filter in your unit EVERY month. I do it on the day I pay the Mortgage, it helps me to remember. Now you have done everything you can to save. Good luck, with the money I save I can ride in my car with the air on high and come out better in the end.

you have a real to be disillusioned. you in addition to mght, on the age of twenty-two, have the main suitable to circulate out of your mom's domicile and proportion an condo with a pair of friends, or with your grandparents or different relative. Your mom is starting to be a deterrent to you going to college and the place is that going to finally end up? She is clearly able to working if she became into working up till final December. If she has something incorrect together with her and is mentally no longer able to artwork then she ought to be amassing incapacity from her final job. you have the main suitable to take a seat together with her and insist that she inform you precisely what's misguided, why she won't be able to artwork, ask to work out the physician's certificates declaring that she is unemployable. in case you're helping her, then she owes you solutions to those questions. Get your man or woman place, no be counted how small or uncomfortable it is. even if you will have adequate money. get lower back to college and you'd be in a extra helpful place in some years. the place is your Dad in all this? As for the cigarettes - upload up how lots she spends on them each month and then deduct that quantity from the expenses you ought to pay. i.e. if she spends $3 hundred.00/month on cigarettes, then it is $3 hundred.00/month which you preserve for your self out of your pay. you do no longer ought to be providing her with cigarettes once you're already somewhat waiting to pay utilities and groceries. Make her discover her own cigarette money.

Yes. The cold air would be feeding the rooms with the open vents and, therefore, cooling them faster . The thermostat position (location) plays a big part in this. When it senses the temperature has reached the level you set it to, it shuts off the cooling unit. You would be cooling fewer rooms so the the rest would cool faster.

yes ! y cool rooms u dont use, close those vents and operate your system on manual not auto this way you will only turn it on when you are in the house and not when you are not home and when it cools enough you can turn it off again in about 1 hour but try not to use the coolest settings you need to allow your body to acustom to heat this will allow you to sleep better
