Cross Country for Sprinters?

I run 100 meter hurdles and I've been told that running xc would help me be a better sprinter... should I run xc or will I ruin everything????

If you have a good XC coach, he can adjust the training program to help your sprinting/hurdling.

You should not be approaching XC like a pure distance runner, because you are not. The extremely long runs will not benefit your sprinting.

Talk to the XC coach and see how he approaches sprinters on the XC team.

It shouldn't affect you either way. Running cross country will build up your endurance, or slow twitch muscles, but won't do anything to your fast twitch muscles. I wouldn't recommend doing distance and sprinting at the same time, but since track and xc are different seasons you shouldn't have a problem.

My coach encourages all the sprinters to join xc. It should help a bit.

You should really run it, from experience i know it has helped me tremendously, but my events were the 200, and 400 meters. What i suggest is to at least get some speed workouts in during the week, in order to retain your top speed, that way you won't completely lose fast twitch muscles.

Maybe. cuz when i was done with cross country this year it helped on my sprint. i was alot faster. but if you stick with hurdle workouts and stretched, it will target those more

NO, cross country is only for long distance runners, like me. If you sign up, you'll look like a complete idiot because you will stop 5 minutes through. Thanks

cross country is all endurance and when you go on jogs you lose top speed. for speed DONT DO IT
