Getting a sports bike right off is a bad idea. The best beginner bikes are standard or cruiser style bikes. Ones that you sit upright on with you legs out in front. Your center of gravity is lower, and your more comftorble sitting instead of crouching over the bike. Not to mention their gearing is more for cruising then acceleration. I bought my first motorcycle last week! I bought a 2006 Suzuki S40 Boulevard Cruiser ***Formally called the Savage.*** It is a 40 Cubic inch, 650cc Single cylinder cruiser that weighs in at a scant 350lbs give or take. Now I'm 5'11 and pushing 275lbs and the bike's gut enough um... Gumption to pull my big butt along. I LOVE IT! It's got that old school look to it, and it's affordable. And at you weight/height, it would perform a lot better for you then me. Anyways, taking the Safety cource is a good idea, I'm taking mine next week. ***Work sucks, I have to wait!*** But having the permit is enough to get some road experience. Peace. Good luck!

If you need a lecture, a lecture is what you'll get. Who do you think you are? Get this straight; you have the question, we have the answer. It doesn't matter how much you don't like the answer, it's still the answer. THERE IS NO GOOD 600cc BIKE FOR A BEGINNER.

In short, none. Why, because as many have pointed out, unless your next of kin are in bad need of funds, a 600 is a quick way to help them, get it? Speed makes you look cool, right, 600's are fast due to displacement/weight ratio, right? Well guess what puke, that sudden stop at the end hurts more at speed, beginners are just that beginners, you sound like you need a good 1 lunger. You guys and your stupid questions are starting to bore me. You must be Bart's cuzz. Now go back and man-up, take a MSF safety course and learn how to stay alive before you cost me my right to not wear a friggin' helmet. BTY-If you cant listen to sane people(?), make sure you pay your life and bike insurance and include me in the will........PLEASE!!

Honda VT600-C Shadow VLX is the only 600cc bike suitable for a novice rider.
There is no 600cc sport bike "good" for beginners. That's the answer, take it or leave it.

Hmm, you're seeking advice but rejecting it simultaneously. Buy whatever the f**k you want.
My advice? Quit being such an effing squid. You're probably a blood stain waiting to happen. Don't forget to ride in shorts and sneakers and make sure your girl has the booty shorts that ride right up the crack of her @ss. Oh yeah, and wear your helmet on the top of your head while you repeatedly bang against the rev-limiter.
I'll be the guy on the red Triumph flipping you off.

They should not be riding 600s.
I realise you are brimful of confidence, arrogance and testosterone – none of those qualifications will help you ride a bike.

Suzuki SV650 (the bike many magazine road testers choose as their personal mount) or a 650-class dual sport like the KLR650 or DR650.

don't worry
you won't grow out of a 600cc... cause it will probably kill you first!

600cc sportbikes are not for beginners.
I know you're tired of hearing it but it is true.
You had to crawl before you could walk right?
