Hypothetically, Can the US Government be sued under the Anti-trust laws?

I am really just curious.

Update:

Thanks for giving me a place to start... It's kinda disconcerting to me that there seems to be little that can be done to keep a Government in check when they over-step their bounds... But what do I know, I am only a Poly Sci Novice...

No, the Anti-trust laws constrain the activities only of commercial enterprises.

There is a case - name escapes me now because it's late - where the US government was acting in a commercial manner by selling mandatory crop insurance to farmers, and an agent messed up and required farmers to buy a policy for a crop that the government plan didn't cover. Floods destroyed the crop, and when the government refused to pay, the farmers sued. SCOTUS ruled that even when the government acts AS a commercial enterprise, it isn't, and can't be sued as one.

This topic is requiring some research which is making me tired. In short i feel that the US Gov. could be sued for some violations of "Anti-trust laws" but they can't be held totally responsible for the actions of certain companies as these laws are subsequent to change legally by federal standards and are overseen by different jurisdictions within the state governments.

-Info was found on wiki, and other government websites.

definitely !!!!! As a rustic of super ability and fiscal device, we are on the snapping factor, very almost each and every State is bankrupt... why no longer "separate" and have 50 diverse international locations. not greater Terrorist assaults could ensue. all of us could have 50 places to circulate to in the event that they weren't satisfied. each and every State ought to (and could) have it truly is very own government and regulations. A sparkling start up... what a super thought.....possibly we could take over yet another State and have yet another Civil conflict, then yet another u . s . a . and have yet another Viet Nam, then international ability and annihilate all of us....we are on that track already.
