Can anyone help me please (any doctors or nurses on here?)?
I came off the depo provera shot (the last one was due in September last year but i did not take it) I was on it a total of three injections so 9months. I gained almost 100 pounds which i am now trying to loose.
The thing is though its been almost a year off it and for the first 5/6 months i spotted occasionally
now however (last 4/5 months) i have been bleeding. continuously. Startred with spotting, but it was daily and all the time. Now i have been bleeding (clots and everything for a month) and the last two weeks have been quite heavy.
I am concerend now because things do NOT seem to be righting themselves which i was assured they would do. what the hell do i do now? I have not had sex with my husband in over a month :( and it hurts (the bleeding) what can i do after my very nasty experince with depo i am not sure i want more drugs in my system
can anyone help me please
(yes i am asking this in more than one category as i really need some answers) If its necessary to go to my gp i will find the time (i work shifts so time is hard to find) :)

Depo Provera can cause absent periods and dysfunctional bleeding both when you stop taking it and when you first start taking it. It can take awhile for your cycle to re-establish itself after coming off it, it's not uncommon for this to take up to a year.
With regards to the dysfunctional bleeding, your Dr may try giving you Norethisetone to stop the bleeding and/or tranexamic acid. You'd need to make an appointment to see him. This should help stop the bleeding and hopefully your cycle will return to normal.

I just have started the depo shot about 2 - 2 1/2 months ago and I've already sworn I'm switching to the pill.
I myself did nothing but bleed for the last roughly month and a half, but it finally stopped.
My doctor originally explained it to me as you do not have periods on the depo shot because it contains no fake hormones, since when you do not ovulate (Which it prevents), you do not need to have a period to clean yourself out.
I personally believe regardless of whether or not you ovulate, your uterine wall continues to build up the material released when PMSing, which is why some people 'spot'. My mother was on the depo shot as well and experienced the same thing you are,
I wouldn't go to the Gyn yet unless you're feeling sick (Physically sick such as dizzy, cold chills, pale, nauseated, etc). As long as you feel alright (Other than the pain of periods), I think you should be fine since it seems to be just old blood working it's way out.
But if you're concerned to the point you think your life may be in danger, I'd go ahead and make an appointment or even just a check up.
Good luck.
