Can anyone help me please (any doctors or nurses on here?)?
I came off the depo provera shot (the last one was due in September last year but i did not take it) I was on it a total of three injections so 9months. I gained almost 100 pounds which i am now trying to loose.
The thing is though its been almost a year off it and for the first 5/6 months i spotted occasionally
now however (last 4/5 months) i have been bleeding. continuously. Startred with spotting, but it was daily and all the time. Now i have been bleeding (clots and everything for a month) and the last two weeks have been quite heavy.
I am concerend now because things do NOT seem to be righting themselves which i was assured they would do. what the hell do i do now? I have not had sex with my husband in over a month :( and it hurts (the bleeding) what can i do after my very nasty experince with depo i am not sure i want more drugs in my system
can anyone help me please
(yes i am asking this in more than one category as i really need some answers) If its necessary to go to my gp i will find the time (i work shifts so time is hard to find) :)

I'd definitely make an appointment to see your GP or even the nurse in your surgery if thats the only appointment available that suits you. It can take a while for your cycle to get back to normal after coming off any hormonal contraception, as the body adapts and gets back into the swing of things. But I would say that bleeding constantly for the last few months isn't right, especially if you are in pain. Maybe they will tell you to sit it out and that it is normal but I would say get it checked anyway. You might be anaemic from bleeding for that long and they might want to do a smear test. Good luck!

It's very odd how Depo affects people differently. I was on Depo last year. I was supposed to have my 3rd shot in October but decided to skip it due to all the side effects it is reported to have. My period stopped completely by the second shot. My last shot (2nd) was July and I did not start bleeding again until early May. I was bleeding every week until now which I have not bled for the last 3 weeks. I did not gain any weight while on it and I am amazed that you gained so much in so little time. You obviously need to see your OB/Gyn MD if you have concerns and seeing you are having some serious side effects. There is nothing anyone can tell you here besides other horror stories about being on Depo. Luckily, my experience with Depo was not that bad. My periods still are not right but hopefully they will even out soon. I have heard it can take a good year or so for them to normalize. The stuff is wicked for sure, and I have heard of some nasty stuff happening while on it so I am sure you are not abnormal...but you need to see your Dr right away.

I've heard this depo horror story before. This is the main reason a lot of women have chosen not to use depo. And the weight gain side effect is horrible, too. Depo has thrown your hormone balance into a tizzy. As you've guessed, bleeding for a month is not normal. You're going to become anemic and end up with bigger problems. Please schedule an appointment with your doc and see if they have any solutions. This could straighten itself up in time, but I've heard stories of it taking a few YEARS. Don't wait that long to seek help. Sure, the depo shot is convenient, but it isn't worth the potential effects (as I'm sure you know!) Best of luck.
