If a Muslim eats pork by mistake is it a sin?

Like if he ate a meal at a restaurant and was told it didn't contain pork when in fact it did?

If somebody accidentally eat it,then that's fine, say astaghfirullah and ask him for guidance and forgiveness.

if the person believed that what they were eating was Halal (permitted) it would not be a sin.

there has been a huge issue for the last 10+ years in the UK, over chicken breast, most chicken breast contains Protein from pigs (and other animals, since pig is so cheap it's the most commonly used) to make it plump up when they inject them with water, it has been found in halal meat and it's being debated on weather it's a sin and what should be done.

I'm sure muslims in the western world accidentally eat pork all the time...especially since meat plants are always dealing with all kinds of product processes round the clock...

In a muslim world "YES" .

Food manufacturers inject meats with substances that can contain pork and beef extracts, which cannot be detected unless they are tested before hand.

Even "Halal" meat which Muslims eat can contain sources of pork and beef extract when the inject them with a watery substance to make the meat look plumper.

In that case the sin is on the chef and whoever is responsible for not stating exactly what the dish contained or

back on the Muslim who should have known that he was not in a halal restaurant and therefore he should have been more cautious or

who would miss pork when it smells like human urine except to the kafirs who think it smells fabulous?

    Allahuakbarr!

nope its not your fault bc you cannot go back to the kitchen and check for yourself to make sure that your food has no pork, actually you need to take a persons word even when they say that the food is halal you can trust them and you dont have to verify unless of course you have a suspiscion that its not halal. but from what I understand and have read you not guilty

I think it is because theres this congresswoman in the Philippines and she was served with a chowmien with pork and she freak out! she got really mad and she slapped the manager of the food caterer. They told her that it was chicken but it wasn't. So.. yeah i think its a sin for them???

    No its not a sin.

He didn't know about it, meaning he didn't do it deliberately.

Islam is a religion of ease not complication.

Next time if you eat something without knowing what it is...Just say "bismillah" and eat.

    Allah is most merciful.

    Assalamu Alaikum,

Nope, you're good, a mistake is a mistake, Islam is all intentions, so you can't be punished for some mistake! That's the beauty of Islam :)

If i killed someone in a freak frisbee accident would it be a sin? No, because it was unintentional.

Unintentional sins aren't sins. That being said, the person eating it is responsible for knowing what they are eating... So that's quite an innovative question. I hope somone has an answer ^^
