You appear to have the term "absent-minded" confused with "dumb."
If you have ever made a mistake in your life, you will be able to understand the difference. Intelligent people are not perfect either, my friend.
To make an accusation of "dumbness" towards an orginazation composed of hundreds of thousands of people that wer able to send human beings into spaceflight, to the moon, hundreds of staellites in orbit around Earth and numerous probes to the distant planets and beyond, seems quite inaccurate, in my personal opinion.

It's not that dumb. It was a mistake. There were many many copies of the stuff on those tapes by the time they were erased. It's not like the footage itself is lost entirely, they just lost the best quality copy of it.
And to the person who says Hollywood is 'recreating' it, they are remastering it, i.e. cleaning up the existing material. It is not a recreation any more than cleaning up the old film copies of Star Wars for the re-release on DVD of the original trilogy is.

Yes, the NASA receiving tracking radio stations and the television networks all have videotape copies. Congress has not funded NASA very well since the space race ended, so I'm not that surprised that the videotape was recycled accidentally.

Reasons they might not have considered it important to keep it:
(1) It contained no useful scientific data.
(2) There were lots of copies
(3) By the end of the Apollo program most of the public had become bored with Moon landings.
(4) It did not occur to anyone in the early 70's that one day there would be people stupid or misinformed enough to doubt that the Moon landings ever happened.

Yeah, it was in the yahoo news today. It said the original tape was reused so the footage was taped over. So now Hollywood is recreating it. You think they would've made more than one copy.

Some of the original material is in Western Australia, it belongs to one of the scientists who made dust detection equipment.
TV of Apollo 11 was an afterthought anyway. It was not planned from the start to have any TV coverage at all.

NASA is not dumb.
They lost the tape on purpose.
Watch this and you will understand why.

that's because they know that It was a fake and conveniently lost it/re taped over it. it is a massive global hoax.
