I think it depends on where in Virginia you live, I think Richmond and below think of it as southern or where I am from in Northern VA we think of it as East Coast. Either way is pretty correct, just a preference.

I used to live in Virginia. In fact, I was born there. I identify Virginia more with the East Coast because Virginia is one of the farthest north of the Southern states. Go Virginia!!!!!!!!!
