Non-drinking suggestions for early August?

Have a friend coming in town. She's wanting to get a quick hit look at NOLA. I told her about Satchmo Summerfest and White Linen Night, but just wanted to get some other people's ideas.

Update:

EmiSaint, thanks for your help, but remember....it's early August. We could go to the zoo, but it's so hot that none of the animals would be out, and they'd probably be laughing at us from the shade.

Preservation Hall serves no alcoholic drinks. Even if they do not drink i would still show them pat o's, lafittes blacksmith shop, absinthe house. Take them on the streetcar to the zoo or the park.

    Go to eat:

Not in the French Quarter: Commanders Palace, Brigtsens, Cochon, Upperline, Jacqueimos, Dick and jennys,

Old Coffee Pot- Best Red Beans

Satchmo Fest Is awesome i highly recommend it and white linen night.

Also, Magazine street is nice for some shopping.

Historic New Orleans Collection is a real great museum about history of the city/LA.

You can't come to NOLA for the first time and not eat Cafe Du monde, See St. Louis Cathedral, and check out royal streets antique shops if they like antiques.

    Frenchman street has great music!

I don't mind the heat then just go to the aquarium. That is what SnoBalls are for ! White Linen Night can be pretty miserable in the heat as well. Makes waiting in line to get drinks a pain in the butt. And You wait a long time!

Thanks for the thumbs down. None of your answers are better than mine. I actually live here. Unlike NOLAguy who states he is a new orleans resident. which he is not. check out his profile.
