Please can someone give me an analogy for understanding the difference between "strategy" and "tactics"?
I am struggling to understand the difference between the two. Is there anyone out there who can give me an analogy so I can fully understand it?
I asked for an analogy NOT an explanation like Tim T has give me. I understand what each thing is but I need a picture to help me understand. Some one described it as something like if you were going on a journey strategy would define what method you'd use to get there and tactics would be how you did it...I kinda get that but it's still a bit vague...can anyone get it clearer for me?

Strategy is large scale, and tactics are small scale.
For example: Your strategy is to steal customers from your competitors. Your tactics are 1) Price yourself lower than your competitor, and 2) advertise where your competitor's customers will see your company.
The tactics should lead to a successful strategy.
