  • How long to get a UK Visa put in a passport?

Hi my husband and I successfully appealed a UK family visit visa refusal and he was asked to send his passport for them to put the stamp in. According to Worldbridge, the UK visa office received the passport on Wednesday, does anyone know how long it takes for them to put the stamp in and return it? He's in Germany (Düsseldorf). I am just wondering as I'd like him to be on a flight on the 21st so he's here in the UK by Christmas :-)

  • Accommodation question for UK family visit visa?

I am applying for a family visit visa for my husband to be able to visit me in the UK. I live in a council-owned property that Housing Benefit pays for as I am not currently working. Please could someone tell me:

    1. Do I need to provide proof of our accommodation and my tenancy? It's a one bedroom flat and I have lived there 18 years now.

    2. If my husband comes to stay will my claim be viewed as him having recourse to public funds?

    Your help is appreciated.

  • How to make perfect butter cream?

Please could someone give me ratios for butter to icing for:

    Good pipeable buttercream

    AND

    Good spreadable buttercream

I have seen buttercream on many YouTube channels and it always looks so smooth and creamy and mine just seems to be so hard to spread and it's a bit too loose for piping. I just don't know what to do. Please could I get a recipe and advice? I am aware buttercream isn't just butter and icing sugar please feel free to let me know if I'm missing ingredients.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I would prefer to hear from people who actually bake rather than just someone finding a link for me. Please only post a link if you have actually used the recipe and can guarantee it works.

    Thanks

  • What can I make instead of buttercream to practice piping?

Icing sugar is expensive and if I make buttercream I usually eat it too! I just wondered if there was something I could mix with butter that would create a similar consistency just so I can practice piping and also learn to not keep eating the darn stuff!

  • What is the best way to measure the calories in rice?

I am watching my calorie intake. If I cook 100g of rice and eat the whole lot, is that the same amount of calories as the uncooked weight, please remember that A) rice swells and so is no longer 100g when cooked and B) there are less calories in cooked rice than uncooked.

  • Does anyone know what film this is?

I think Rock Hudson was in it, it's a black and white film about a millionaire who gives a family lots of money and then pretends to be a butler and simply observes them, they change so much he decides they are better off without the money.

Clue: "I don't know" and "check on Google" are not answers.

  • Is Fujifilm Finepix a good camera?

I used a Finepix before and hated it. It had a feature that when I pressed the button it didn't take the picture straight away. Useless for moving shots. I can't remember the model of the camera and that delay in the shots was the way the camera was -I checked the manual and that's what it said.

Looking online a lot of people have good things to say about Finepix so I am wondering if it was just that model and if I should give it another try. It seems I will get the best value for my money if I get one. I want a beginners camera to use and get comfy with just before I spend money on a D-SLR. I do not want to spend a lot of money either! :-) Thanks for any USEFUL help.

  • Itching under the skin of the fingers...what is it?

    Hi there,

I get an itch that comes on my fingers (between the knuckle and the fingernail). The itch feels as though it's UNDER the skin and when I scratch it the skin blisters and breaks and then is a bit sore. It reminds me of a cold sore but is very annoying. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what it might be, what is causing it and what I can do to get rid of it?

    Thanks
