are these hcg levels normal??? please help!?
hi and thank you all for reading this. i am freaking out. i am six weeks pregnant and just had bloodwork on monday. my hcg levels were 1200. i went back this morning to do a repeat (doc said this is standard procedure) and my hcg was only 2700. i read online that everyone is different and sometimes it may take longer to increase. but if it doubled, shouldn't i be okay? the doc wants me to retest on tuesday to eliminate the chance of ectopic. i am not cramping or bleeding. i feel great. is it just a case of knowing too much=worrying for nothing??

Here are the HCG numbers for the early stages in pregnancy. These numbers are copied directly from my own Beta HCG Quantitative report:
Non Pregnant females: <5
Pregnant Females:
2 days - 1 week: 5-50
1 - 2 weeks: 50-500
2 - 3 weeks: 100 - 10,000
3 - 4 weeks: 1,000 - 30,000
4 - 5 weeks: 3,500 - 115,000
5 - 6 weeks: 10,000 - 115,000
6 - 8 weeks: 12,000 - 200,000
2 - 3 months: 10,000 - 100,000
They just want to make sure that your numbers are doubling well enough. If your numbers are doubling rapidly then it MAY indicate a twin pregnancy. Numbers often double slower in ectopic pregnancies but they want to make sure since an ectopic can cause a lot of damage (and even death) if it's not caught quick enough. From your numbers I would guess that you don't have an ectopic but your doctor probably just wants to make sure. Maybe he recently had a patient that suffered through one so he wants to make sure for his next patients. If your numbers double and then stop doubling it could indicate a miscarriage but your numbers are doing well.

hcg levels should increase by at least 66% every 2-3 days but some ppl they rise slower..at 6 weeks most of the times u should b able to see something on u/s and sometimes see a heart beat so ask for u/s and get another blood test done to make sure they are rising appropriatly

i believe i was right around those numbers at about 6-7 weeks pregnant. I wouldn't be worried. My doc only told me my numbers once and that was at 4 weeks pregnant and i was like 462. Most doctors dont really tell you your numbers, i think your doctor should have kept commentsto him or herself because you have no clue whats good and whats bad with the numbers only they do, too much information given out and that doesnt help

They never told me my hCG levels, so maybe you're right and you've got a kind of 'information overload' going on. I think this all sounds perfectly fine and you should try and relax and get your partner to cook you a nice dinner so you can chill :) LOL
