Socialist healthcare?

It is advantageous to the poor and working class to have socialized healthcare. The poor will save more on health care expenses than it will cost them for private insurance and deductibles, so there is no logical self interest motivated reason for a person making under 100k to oppose socialized healthcare.

The wealthy on the other hand, the ones who can afford the media machine and run fox news.....they are the ones who will have to pay for it. We would be taking a huge chunk of change from them to help the less fortunate. They dont like that.

What confuses me however are all the poor people who have been brainwashed into voting against their own self interest. They have been convinced that the government is going to tax their manual labor to pay for the healthcare of people even poorer than them....they dont realize that they are some of the people who will directly benefit from socialized healthcare. They dont realize that their medical expenses would go down or that they wouldnt have to pay private insurance (in a truly socialized system, which is not quite what we have in front of us now).

I dont understand how these people have been brainwashed into voting against their own self interest.....I guess they think they are going to win the lottery and dont want to give a larger piece of it up to help poor people?

Oh, it is easy to find the disadvantages. First of all, you will have to pay lots of money every month for Obama Care. Then the government will decide if you get care or if you don't get care. All you need to do is look at a VA hospital, Medicare or Medicaid to see how good government runs healthcare. All three are a mess! And bankrupt.

i'm talking about about a 70 year old grandmother being told that there's a treatment that may save her life and a government bureaucrat denying her that treatment on the grounds that she's too old to be worth spending the money that's needed to save her life.

so, ... Instead of keeping patients and doctors in charge of key medical decisions, the House Democrats’ plan will give Washington the power instead. And if you’re outraged with what Washington’s done with the bailouts, just wait until you see what Uncle Sam does with your health care.

5.this will ultematly lead to raising taxes , ..on evrybody ..not just the "rich"

did you think that obama and his buddies will manage to pay for medical care for 100% of all Americans would require a tax hike on more than 5% of the population.

obama said that " he won't rule out a health care reform bill that includes a tax hike on people making less than $250,000 a year"

he will raise taxes on middle class ( he already broke his campaign promise when he signed the tobacco tax )

at this time , Democrats are considering everything from taxing soda, to raising income taxes on upper income people earning more than $200,000, to a federal sales tax.

a democratic congressman admitted that the health care reform plan would be financed with tax hikes.

No one seems to be listening! If you are able to afford your own health insurance - or if you're covered by an employer's health care plan - you don't have to make any changes in your medical coverage.

For those who can't afford insurance, or aren't covered by an employer plan, they will be able to receive quality health care.

The problem with 'universal health care' is that it MUST eliminate the profit motive (thus, eliminate insurance companies who only have PROFIT in mind, not medical care).

I think it would be easy to simplify things: just extend MedicAid and MediCare benefits to everyone. If this country can afford trillions of dollars for an unconstitutional, immoral and illegal 'war' - and then give $8.5 TRILLION* in corporate welfare checks (called 'bail outs' or 'rescue plans). we can afford to provide health care for every legal American citizen who is unemployed, sick, poor, elderly, homeless or hungry. -RKO- 07/17/09

FFS, I wish some of you cvould get it onto your thick skulls that a country that has government programs does not mean it's automatically socialist. In fact, the ones with market economies AND gov't programs are doing a hell of a lot better than YOU right now, and it's due in part to the gov't programs.

Anything provided by the government requires taxes to survive. Taxes.....your paycheck. Government programs, government healthcare and the government itself is ONLY allowed to exist because YOU GIVE THEM TAX MONEY!!!! NOTHING IS FREE!!!!!

Republicans oppose everything that can benefit the average person, they only like to line their own pockets.
