TEENS: Inexpensive and Low quality, or Expensive and Highquality?

So teens, recently I have been buying more and more high quality clothing that is unfortunately more expensive, so i cannot buy in bulk.

My question to you all, is:

Would you rather get lots of clothes for a low price that don't last long. (eg: Forever 21, H&M)

or

Would you rather have less clothes with a higher quality and price?

(eg: Barneys New York, Anthropology)

As I said earlier, now that I have stopped growing, I find it nicer to buy clothes that will last a while, not just a couple of monthes.

Update:

Johnny R.-

I understand that it may sound like there are no high or low quality clothes, but it is not the material that is high or low quality, it is the make of the clothes.

I have buttons fall off my forever 21 clothes all the time, but my J crew jackets have never needed a repair.

Update 2:

To another answer, i just find Abercrombie and Fitch, and Hollister tacky and generic...

but thats just my opinion,

Basically all of my clothes are high quality and expensive. I like pieces that look sharp and are going to last. They may not be what's in 17, but I like them so much more. Plus, if you buy the right pieces that never go out of style, it's totally worth it.

I do like H&M, though. They have great jeans.

    Inexpensive and low quality.

Why? Because that's all I CAN get. There's no way I would be able to afford a pair of €200 jeans. It's a waste. The most expensive thing in my wardrobe cost €65. I'm the type of person who likes to experiment with clothes. I like going into town with €20 and coming home with five or six things. I don't think I could last wearing the same thing every day cos it cost a load of money. Even if I had the money to spend in Brown Thomas and all those expensive shops - I wouldn't. My clothes rip all the time. A quick sew-up and they're grand. I'm not saying I believe in quantity over quality - I just find the high street and vintage shops to have nicer clothes. I might be able to buy something similar for €10 what you spent €160 on. Maybe it won't last as long but as I said, sew it back and get on with it.

It depends on if you are still growing. I'm not, and so this is what I do:

--Get staples (plain short and long sleeved tees, waffle knit thermal tees, tank tops) good quality because they will be washed a lot.

--Get good quality jeans (they will be washed a lot). These are NOT designer!! They will NOT be a hundred bucks, try something like levis, calvin klein etc ok seriously you do not need those 7 or citizen jeans nobody is going to be looking at your jeans for the brand any way.

--Good quality staple shoes (black converse, a nice pair of sandals, tennis shoes, sheepskin boots - they don't have to be UGG brand, just real sheepskin) I dont want my shoes to fall apart, I like to wear them a lot LOL

--Some more expensive tees - just for fun; like Juicy Couture, or if you like A&f.. Hollister... whatever. I don't like them... but I know some people do.

--Many less expensive tees - NOT super poor quality though, because these will get washed some - things like Roxy, O'Neill, Volcom, etc

--Skirts, Dresses, and other less worn items - medium quality, you're not going to be wearing them much, are you? But you don't want to wear something everyone is going to know where you bought it. (Like forever 21. I can spot that from a mile away)

Nobody needs Barneys New York or Juicy Couture, but a little here and there never hurts anyone! So if you really want a Juicy tracksuit or two, go for it. But NEVER feel obligated to buy all your clothes from high-end stores -- usually the quality isn't even worth the price... plus you don't want to look like a dork who only has 1 designer item and wears it every single day. (yes, I'm talking about you, Ashley from eighth grade... wearing the same juicy couture tee every day for 3 months does NOT make you look rich)

Im a little spoiled I will admit, I won't touch aero, a&f, hollister, ae, pac sun or any of those type things. I have mostly basics (like j crew, eddie bauer, etc), my converse collection (I have like 10 colors, I wear them all the time and they last for FOREVER when you rotate them out), and some designer things-- I've a coach hat, marc jacobs necklace... moderation is the key :)

I don't care where I get my clothes from. If I like it, I buy it. I mostly shop at forever21. I keep my look simple, shorts, and a t shirt. Usually a plain, over sized t shirt that I'll wear off the shoulder, and I'll wear jewlery and stuff. I however used to love hollister and abercrombie, and higher brands like that, and now I noticed their clothes are cute, but each piece is the same as the other. Forever21, and other stores like that have cute funky pieces you can match with anything. You should have fun with your style, and not follow others. But really, are you going to wear something you bought 2 years ago? I think not. I usually get tired of my clothes easily. So I go for things that aren't as expensive.

Quality... not exactly expensive. There are brands that are expensive but crappier than walmart clothing... waste of money. I always buy quality, especially my riding clothes and jeans, as they get a lot of super hard wear. The longer they last and the better they wear, the more I'm willing to pay.

Both. And it depends on what I'm buying as well. Jeans and shoes *must* be from a brand that i know makes high quality clothes/shoes. T shirts, singlets and the like are usually from cheaper places; I'm not paying $50 Australian Dollars for a plain top.

You do realize that the clothes are made from the same material??

It's quite typical for teens to be brainwashed with the concept that the quality is much better. Maybe its better because you take better care of them.

All clothes are the same. It's just that the expensive clothes have fancier designs, or a big brand name, and thats about it.

Clothing prices are NOT indicative of quality!! It's indicative of the amount of $$$ spent on advertising!

Edit: So you give me a thumbs down because I stated some facts?? Come on now. I've had buttons fall off expensive clothes before, mainly because of how often I wore it.

Expensive clothes in high school might impress a couple people, but in university, people go to class in pyjamas and whatever. Expensive clothing is fun to have when you have an income to support that. Otherwise, save for your education!

    im 14 & i shop at forever 21 and H&M CONSTANTLY .!

you may have buttons fall off but it doesnt mean its "cheap"

i have a j.crew sweater my mom bought& 2 weeks later the zipper fell off.

not everything is cheap & with this economy i would choose to shop forever 21 etc. try to mix-n-match outfits ex: jeans at forever 21, shirts at H&M etc. everything will come at a low price rather than 3 simple tees at j.crew which would come out to be 55 dollars.

name brands dont mean ANYTHING,as long as you know your styles&look good, name brands dont matter.

personally, i think j.crew is for 30 year olds. my math teacher buys knitted sweaters from there&wear them everyday, its horrid to look at lol

buying high-end clothes is fine if you can afford to buy them continually, and every year. clothes go out of style very quickly, the odds of you wanting to wear a dress from three years ago is not very good. unless you are very wealthy, it makes more sense to buy clothes you can afford to replace when you get sick of them, which you will.

I always choose quality over quantity. Even though I can't buy as much, I get nicer stuff that lasts for a while.
