What factors of a pro wrestler do you find most necessary for them to be entertaining? Mic skills, mat skills?
Grade each category on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most important) on how important it is for each wrestler to have each skill in order to entertain you. How much weight do you put on each category as far as entertainment.
Here's Mine:
Mic Skills - 10 - Superstars with a way with words are usually the most entertaining for me.
Charisma - 6 - A lot of times I can be entertained simply by the quality of what I'm watching/hearing w/o the superstar actually TRYING to create a response. At times hearing the crowd cheer does get me more into it though.
Selling Moves - 9.5 - During a match it's always more entertaining for me when superstars sell the moves to a believable extent. There is a fine line between underselling & overselling and the guys that do it well are definitely entertaining.
Being on time (sharpness in-ring) - 8.5 - This is more important than actually being able to wrestle for me. When superstars have unnatural hesitations, botch moves, and the timing is off it really messes up the entertainment for me and makes me remember I'm watching a scripted match. Making me think that is not good.
Wrestling ability - 5 - Actual wrestling isn't truly that important to me, and sometimes when they overdue the mat wrestling stuff in the beginning of matches it becomes boring. I respect the talents of all of the wrestling prodigy's from college, but actual mat wrestling doesn't really entertain me.
Entrance - 6 - I think I put more emphasis on the entrance than most. The first few words/notes of certain peoples theme song always find a way to get me hyped up for what's about to happen, and fireworks and antics do a good job of getting me hyped up too. Entrances that are too long, have too much pandering to the crowd, have stupid songs, or where the wrestler does stupid stuff during the entrance really annnoy me. Not too drastic though.
Finisher - 8 - Superstars with finishers that are believable and a tad realistic are usually the most entertaining for me. When matches end with dumb finishers it's quite upsetting, but when I know I can look forward to a match ending with a finisher that can come out of nowhere or looks nasty... it gets me more interested.
Appearance - 5.5 - Some wrestlers just look bad *** like Randy Orton, Stone Cold, Jericho w/long hair, etc, and others have sweet ring attires, etc, that make me more inclined to watch. But wrestlers that look stupid w/not so sweet ring attires can sometimes make me less interested. It's not too drastic, but everything is better when it looks sweet.
Size - 5 - I cannot say that I have ever been genuinely entertained ever by anybody over 300 pounds except Undertaker, Kane, Vladimir Kozlov, and others I can't think of at the moment. It's just not believable at all that somebody 300+ pounds can really lose to somebody 250 pounds or less. Other than the 300+ pounders though size really isn't that important for me.
Uniqueness - 5 - I like superstars that do things that nobody else does. Rey Mysterio has always been a guy I found entertaining. Even with this though, you have to understand that there are only so many things that you can actually do in a ring so I don't put too much weight on it.
What's yours? If you wanna add another category I don't have that's cool. For copying purposes...
Mic Skills
Charisma
Selling Moves
Being on Time (sharpness in-ring)
Wrestling Ability

Then... pick a random superstar and rate them in each category.

The answer with the most thought gets the 10 points, and you can star if you agree with mine... And you can star if you think this topic is interesting. :)
I'm just now realizing how long this thing is... *shocked*

Mic Skills 10 They just gotta have it and most new superstars are not that good at it which is fine but if you're a superstar who's been in the business for more than 5 years and suck at it you better practice
Charisma 8 Faces and Heels wrestle to get responses and they need to get a crowd response just not if they know they won't get one
Selling Moves 10 They need to know how to sell moves just don't oversell the move
Being on Time (Sharpness) 9 They need this because of your exact reason
Wrestling Ability 8.5 I agree with you on this one the only reason my rating is higher is because really good technical wrestlers can put on one hell of a match Bret Hart being the best example
entrance 6 They don't really need a good entrance as long as they get the business done in the ring and put on a good match
Finisher 9 Superstars with good finishers and unique finishers are usually the ones that are main eventers again MOST of the time but yeah they need a finisher that's realistic and get a reaction from the crowd
Appearance 5 Again its not how they look as long as they put on a hell of a match
Size 6 Lighter superstars are usually more entertaining to watch but if they are as athletic and good as Undertaker then I don't mind that they are over 300 pounds as long as they are power with speed
Uniqueness 6 If you can come up with your own kind of creative offense then its NEVER a bad thing its always good to be different
My Category: Athleticism 8 If they are good athletes that can jump and be strong like how athletic Shelton Benjamin is then that is one hell of a superstar and if they are big like Undertaker and can fly then hell I don't mind
Hardcore: 9 Everyone likes a superstar if they are willing to put their body on the line and jump off 20 foot ladders and be willing to take weapon shots and bleed and lose blood its awesome everyone likes violence in wrestling
Undertaker
Mic Skills: 9
Charisma: 9.5
Selling Moves: 10
Being on Time: 9
Wrestling Ability: 8
Entrance: 10 gotta experience that entrance live
Finisher: 10 Tomstone Last Ride? need I go on
Appearance: 10 He just looks like someone you don't mess with
Size: 10
Uniqueness: 100

I look for their Ring skills. Ring skills are what really matter. Having skills on the mic is a great add on but it is not what really matters. Most of the wrestlers that are legends where never that great on the mic, but great in the ring. An example being The Undertaker. BQ - Most would say The Rock, but he has the Ring Skills to back it up. I would have to say The Miz. The Miz is all talk on the mic, but when it comes to the ring he is actually not that great at all. In fact, he kinda sucks in the ring. BQ2 - The most underrated tag team would be RVD and Kane. They were a great tag team and dominated, yet nobody remembers them. They are one of my favorite tag teams of all time definitely. BQ3 - Well I am sticking with Y2J until I am proved wrong. I do see what you are saying though. Notice hardly anyone has mentioned my other guess, Shane McMahon. I say it could be Shane because it says he will take back what is rightfully his. This would be the business of the WWE. And also it says when "she" arrives it is a sign of my return. That would be Stephanie.

7- When I was a kid that's all I cared about but now that i've grown up i just like guys killing each other
7- Same as Mic skills if you ask me
15- I love when guys oversell. See Shawn Michaels VS Hulk Hoan
10- Sharpness- (Has nightmares about Jackie Gayda)
10- If you can't wrestle you better bring the rest of these to the table
Ie. Santino
0-Entrance- Don't care
8- Finisher- I don't want wrestle mania to end with the great Drop Toe Hold. Just imagine. And he runs to him..wait! DROP TOE Hold 1...2..3. NEw champ New Champ New champ
1-Apperance- As long as you wear clothes I'm good
1- size- As long as I can see you i'm good
10- Uniqueness What makes you, you.

mic skills mean nothing to me because u dont buy ppvs for promos, you buy them for the quality of the wrestlers and the matches
thats why im not a huge rock fan
