Where to go in Northern Italy...?

My girlfriend and I are travelling to Italy in September and we have a planned route for Northern Italy but we have too much.

The route:

Day 1: Fly to Treviso. Transfer to Venice (am).

Day 2: Venice

Day 3: Venice- day trip to Verona

Day 4: Train to Florence (am)

Day 5: Florence

Day 6: Florence- day trip to Pisa

Day 7: Train to Genoa (am)

Day 8: Train to Milan- transfer to Lake Maggiore

Day 9: Lake Maggiore

Day 10: Transfer to Milan. Transfer to Bergamo (19:00). Flight at 22:05.

We need to remove either Genoa, Verona, or Pisa.

Any help will be appreciated! :)

Update:

What is Milan like? We was just going to use it as a link to the Lakes and as an airport to fly home.

Update 2:

Also, there seems to be so many places to stay around Lake Maggiore... Anyone have any preferences?

We just came back from Northern Italy, and I will say it was wonderful! We flew in and out of Milan, and I don't think I ever have to go back. It is the industry or business hub, so there are not a lot of touristy attractions. The Last Supper painting was booked for our entire two week stay, and the shopping is only good if you can drop $2,000+ on handbags. The Duomo church is nice to see, but I would spend a half day site seeing, and the rest of the time elsewhere.

We went to the Lakes and stayed in Bellagio at the Hotel Suisse. It was just okay. In Venice we stayed in the Hilton, which we booked through priceline, and it was the best hotel of our entire vacation. It is across the water from all of the major sites, but there is a free hotel shuttle boat that runs most of the day to take you across the water.

If your girlfriend is a shopper, I might skip the trip to Pisa and go shopping. The Prada outlet is in Montevarchi, a 40 minute train ride from Florence and they have great deals. I got a purse for $230 that Saks is selling for $765. Also, Dolce & Gabbana has an outlet in that area, and there is a place called The Mall that has multiple top designer outlets (Gucci, Valentino, Armani, Burberry, Fendi, etc.) all within an hour of Florence.

I would remove Genoa. It is less beautiful than other places and not really on the way (going from Florence to Genoa is not so easy).

I would stay at least half day in Milan, and as you have your flight in Bergamo, I would have a look of it too. If you leave from Milan at 14.00-15.00 it is enough to make a trip in the historical centre (città alta).

Venice is just a fantastic cliché, more intimate, more beautiful and more surprising than you may expect. No matter how many photos or films you might have observed, it is however a jaw-dropping knowledge viewing Venice's canals and palaces for initially and this you would do with the help of this web site hotelbye . Undoubtedly Venice's best-known church and one of the very most easily acknowledged on the planet is St. Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco). This basilica was actually the Doge's personal chapel, decorated with Byzantine art items which are the main booty cut back by Venetian ships following the fall of Constantinople. The gold-backed mosaic pictures above the doorways on the façade just hint at the mosaic beauty inside, wherever 4,240 square yards of silver mosaics protect the walls. So, the St. Mark`s Basilica is just a place worth visited.

I know people in Pisa are going to hate me :) but I agree with pinkie: if you really have to remove one of those places, Pisa will be the painless removal.

You can also consider Genoa, because Florence straight to Milan means a bigger time saving by train.

have to admit pisa was a bit of a waste of time as the only thing there is the tower, Gerona is OK but much like any other city in my opinion, Florence is a definte must see place with lots to see and do so perhaps spend more time there and skip the day trip to Pisa.

    have a great time
