They do go to California. The next event there is rumored to be UFC 104 at the Staples Center in LA in October. Here are some of the rumored match-ups:

Champ Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua - LHW Title

Shane Carwin vs. Cain Velasquez- #1 HW contender

    Yushin Okami vs. Chael Sonnen

    Anthony Johnson vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida

    Ryan Bader vs. Eric Schafer

They've never been here (I'm in the bay area too) and have no plans in the near future. I don't understand why as San Jose is a true hot spot for MMA. Look at what StrikeForce has done there! It could be out of respect to that organization. Though now that they are pushing with new contracts and a Showtime deal. the UFC may attack back.

Our best bet other than StrikeForce is WEC and their frequent shows at Arco in Sacramento and UFC in LA's Staples Center. They don't come too often as it's been a few years. But they will be there in September for the big Lyoto fight.

And really, how fun is a trip to Vegas to see a UFC card? I've done it once, and HIGHLY recommend it!

There has never been a UFC event in the Bay Area and there are no plans at this time. There has been one UFC event in Anaheim and there is one upcomming in LA.

Strikeforce, however, is based in San Jose and has shows in San Jose a couple of times a year.
