Fabio Grosso
Fernando Torres
The pattern is that they are all, in some way, THE MATCH WINNER in the Final of the World Cup or European Championship. The decisive match point moment was won by them.
Scored the winning goal when it was a margin of one goal (Burruchaga, Brehme, Trezeguet, Charisteas and now Torres).
Scored two goals in a 2-1 win to include the winner (Hrubesch and Bierhoff).
Scored a brace when the margin of victory was two goals (Kempes and Ronaldo).
Saved the crucial penalty in the shootout (Taffarel in goal when Baggio missed the crucial kick in the Final of USA 94).
Scored the winning penalty in the shootout (Grosso to win the 2006 World Cup).

i see the connection based on the world cup/european championship but i dont see a pattern
brehme scored the winning pk in 90
taffarel was the goalie when baggio missed in 94
bierhoff scored both goals for germany in 96
trezeguet scored the winner in EC in 2000
ronaldo had 2 goals in 2002
charisteas had a winner in 04 for greece
next 2 i would say
grosso from italy for his winning pk in 06 WC final
and torres for his winning goal at the EC in 2008

I can't pick up on any trend there. Especially when you have Trezeguet where he is.
