Did I miss something here? Why hasn't Obama even addressed the American people regarding PFC Bowe Bergdahl?
Or did I miss it? Is Obama in any way showing support and/or compassion for our military who put their lives in harms way or for the families?
My heart and prayers to the PFC Bergdahl and his family.
I support our military AND the missions as well!

While I gave a thumbs up to the comment about the teleprompter, I"m willing to bet that his speechwriters and his press secretary and his chief of staff are working tirelessly on a speech. Their problem is that they can't figure out a way to blame it on the Bush administration.
Those who post that it's not the President's job to make a statement, or that he has more important things to do.... for Pete's sake, what is the President's job anyway. One of the jobs of the President is that of Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America. As top dog, it's his duty to reassure the families of those in harm's way.
And as President of the United States of America, it's his job to reassure the people in time of national crisis. It seems that with al the people expressing concern, this might well be considered by some something of a crisis.
It's quite possible nobody knows anything yet. From one account I read, he just put down his weapon and went for a walk. That doesn't make any sense at all. A soldier in a combat zone doesn't go anywhere without his weapon. It's not what he's trained to do. A combat zone isn't just a place to go to draw a few more bucks a month incentive pay... it's a dangerous place. You can die there. So you carry a weapon.
On the other hand, people may know exactly what happened, but the President, having no idea what the military is about, and lacking any training in the area just can't grasp it.
This is the President's first military faux pas. He wanted to leave Iraq and shift the activity to Afghanistan. He thought the people would like him better for that move. But now the media are hammering US efforts in Afghanistan and people are already blindly falling into line behind them. And now the Afghan terrorists have told him that they don't like that move. And the President even gave the terrorists sanctuary from being shot at.
Or it cold be that his teleprompter's busted. :-)

Actions are being taken, whether or not obama says one word about it.
obama was more than likely told by the military to avoid the subject for now - it is actually best.
This is a job for the military with CIA intel. It is best for the President to stay out of the way - it simply is not his job.

Dispite all the negative comments...
The Military is doing everything it can
to get him back safe...
By the President not making it a big
issue...it down grades the propaganda
for the Insurgents...
That said...this Soldier WAS NOT CAPTURED
by anyone...He deserted his Post...leaving behind
his Weapons...
Can't tell you all the Military Laws he disobeyed in
doing so...
He gave HIMSELF UP FREELY to the INSURGENTS...
He knew that long before he left the wire...(Compound)
this was done on PURPOSE...
Bet he shows up in Lebanon or Syria
just like the last one did...???

This PFC is being encouraged to say things against America and the war efforts in Afghanistan. I think that has a large part to do with why his story isn't getting much attention. The more they talk about him, the more valuable they make him for the enemy.
I know it sounds cold, but it's in the US' best interest to pretend like it doesn't care, while meanwhile they try to locate him.

my son is in the army. my heart and daily prayers go out to this young pfc and his family and for all our troops.
obama has a news conference at the drop of a hat but is silent on this. it just shows his apathy for our troops, as you recall on his trip, he didn't bother visiting the wounded. he said he didn't want to make it a media event, lol..the whole tour was nothing BUT a media event.
i think Obama doesn't want to test the terrorist so they won't reveal what they really think of obama. i think he think they like him deep down.

No, you didn't miss anything. From Boxer's "maam" tirade to Clinton loathing the military...just another Democrat in office.

HE DOESNT HAVE TO. MILITARY INFORMATION CAN BE KEPT AWAY FROM THE PUBLIC FOR CERTAIN REASONS.
STOP BLAMING OBAMA AND STOP THINKING HES THE BAD GUY HERE. I AM SURE HE IS DOING EVERYTHING HE CAN TO BRING THAT BOY BACK HOME.

The president doesn't have the time to apologize to every military families in this country for their love one either being capture or kill those are the rules of war .But i am sure the president feel deep remorse for this soldiers . The president is not in a position to whine about this issue to the enemy . Secretary Gates and the pentagon is in charge of the matter .
I think it's appalling that the Republicans would politicize this soldier as you are doing now . And this after his family had ask you republicans and the media not to exploit his capture for your personal and political gain.

its better to leave it to be worked out with the Military for the president to interfere would result in more harm then good as they would try to use the prisoner as a bargaining tool for bigger stakes
