how long can a credit report stay on your record?
i have a student loan from 2000 that is in collections and it still shoes up on my report, how long can it stay ther? i thought it was only 7 years from first reported.

7 years from the last time it was reported. Also, companies start selling collections to other agency's in order to get around the 7 year policy.

Your credit report never expires. Same goes for your insurances record for traffic tickets. But, most creditors only look back a certain period of time-often 7 years.
