what does it mean for an email to be in the "spam" section?

i recently registered for an online website and i put in my information and then it said that they would send an activating email, or something like that, and so i went to my email and found that the email they had sent was in the spam section of my email not the in box, so i was wondering if this means that it's a bad website or... what?

please help and

thanks in advance =)

Your computer looks for key words, and the spam box is where it puts what it considers to be advertising, or sometimes chain mail (where it wants you to send it to another 10 ppl so they send it to another 10 ppl and so on.) It's like if you sort through the mail and automatically put down the junkmail without reading it, you've just done what your computer does.

So, it's not necessarily a bad website, your computer's just picked up enough key words to put it into that box.

Spam is where emails go that are promoting products, like viagra, if you are set up correctly. They are sometimes sent there is they are non reply emails. Don't question you website unless it does not send items to spam.

Really? Is this a backlogged question from 1994? Yahoo Answers sure is slow.

Spam is another name for junk mail. It would be like you having a trash can next to your mailbox and the mailman would just put all the junk mail in the trash can and the good mail in your actual mailbox.

    That it's marked as spam.
