samsung cellphone problems: What's a PUK and where can I find mine?

I just bought a Samsung SGH-a177 and i accidentally locked myself out of the phone. Now every time I press a button my phone tells me to "Enter PUK", but i have no clue what that is. So if you could tell me what that is and where I can find mine that would be great. FYI i have already tried 1234 and my the cell number w/ and w/o the area code.

PUK stands for pin unblocking key. Do not try to guess the unlock code because your wireless carrier and phone manufacturer are the only ones that know it. You only get so many chances to enter the code and if entered incorrectly too many times, your phone will display 'PUK locked' and you will not be able to use the phone until you get a new SIM card for it. If your contacts were saved to your SIM, you will lose them. Take the phone to your local wireless retail store or call customer service to ask for the PUK code.

A PUK is something you will have to contact your network provider for, call then and ask for the code it is normally an 8 digit code that you have to enter in to the phone and it will then ask you to set a new pin number.
