Would you give a toast to all of our men and women in uniform that have given their lives for freedom.?

Yesterday Cpl. Benjamin Kopp of 3/75 Ranger Regiment died of his wounds sustained in combat on July11th. He was 21 years old. I know that many many other Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen have also layed down their lives for the sake of freedom. Would you give a toast to someone you knew that died for the sake of our freedom? I will toast Benjamin Kopp who was a friend of my own son which makes him a friend of mine. Thank you Benjamin for your service and sacrifice.

Update:

Xanadu, I realize my toast is a little lean as you called it. But without grandstanding I was looking for appreciation of them, not critism of me. Sometimes that's a little too much to ask I guess.

He is my hero. I teach my third graders who our heroes are: military men and women, firefighters, police officers, those who risk their lives for the sake of our county.

Not pop stars, not sports figures, not teachers.

And if my daughter ever decides to become part of the military, we're not going to be "supportive"...

...we're going to be damned proud.

God Speed Benjamin Kopp. You have brought honor to your family and your country. You have our love and respect, and for your family as well.

I praise all the men and women in uniform, both dead and alive, for their sacrifices for our freedom. I would gladly give them a toast, and I'm sure we can think of an even better way to honor them. God bless America and all that defend it.

How about when you're spouse is deployed and you live on a major installation and you are always seeing the back of people's cars with the special details that say something like

    RIP

    SPC JOE SNUFFY

    1989-2007

It sucks. I tear up every time.

Yes I would. For whatever cause, good or bad. May they rest in peace. And for all the military persons, friend or foe. And for the families they left behind. Salute!

I support all my fellow men and women in uniform, though I may not always agree with the conflicts that I was, or they are, forced to face. All veterans, living or dead, as well as those still on active duty, I salute you all!

You asked "would you toast someone you knew that died for the sake of our freedom?"

I would toast someone I DIDN"T know, who sacrificed their life for our United States of America! A toast seems a little lean Sir, I think that a prayer of gratitude is way more fitting for these brave people.
