Why are American tourists so stupid?!?

Tourists in general are kind of dumb and disruptive, but Americans especially tend to be boisterous. That's putting it nicely.

As a naturally quiet person I feel out of place sometimes. :X

Nationality makes no difference. Some people act as rudely as they please when on holiday as they think the normal rules don't apply. I have met embarrassingly ignorant, loud and rude tourists from all over. Do you really think there are no Irish tourists making loud scenes in NYC and Vegas when on holiday? Guess again. Many tourists seemingly can't adjust to things being different than they are back home, and seem to feel the need to be rude to waitstaff because foods have different names etc... In the US, waiters dread serving certain nationalities.

Every nationality has it's share of horrible and ignorant tourists. On the other hand, I have met wonderful people from all over too. That's how it goes with people the world round - some are awful and some are great.

Perhaps another job would be better for you? One where you needn't be hostile to absolute strangers who are new to your country?

Believe me sweetie, tourists are dumb everywhere because they OBVIOUSLY aren't from around there. I used to work in a restaurant and I know that all tourists are still learning the culture.

Tell me about it, today I was getting lunch and American tourists were talking at the top of their voices about the most ridiculous things. Still, some of them are all right so I shouldn't stereotype.

I don't think they are necessarily stupid, but they think everything should be the same as back home, and of course it is not. It takes a little while to get into the swing of a different place or culture, and most of them aren't around long enough. Still, it should make for a memorable holiday !!!

I have no Idea, I live in a small town in America, and the tourists that come come from the cities here are idiots as well.

Maybe the general populace of Americans are idiots?

Not all of them are stupid. Just a few.

And please don't assume and stupidity and lack of knowledge about something are the same - they are not. An intelligent person recognises they are not knowledgeable about something and asks questions to become knowledgeable about it. A stupid person might recognise they are not knowledgeable about it but refuse to do anything about it.

And that, my friends, is wilful ignorance. Which to my mind is far close to actual stupidity that not knowing something.

I don't think they are so stupid. I only noticed that when they visit my country (France) they don't understand why we don't speak English and think we are all bilingual here so they speak English to you and you can't understand them. They think we are arrogant then..... It's not our fault! But I like to see them though
