Well, the initial problem was that the grout was not sealed. Sealing the grout helps, but won't eliminate completely, the process of it collecting some dirt. It will make it somewhat easier to clean though. To remedy this you'll have to apply some elbow grease and clean the grout until its bright and clean again. Then seal it with a quality sealer. This is available at most home centers like Home Depot, Lowes etc. Its in a can similar to squrty cheese, you just stand, shake, point and shoot. Cover the grout lines thoroughly, and allow to dry. A regular moping should keep it looking good for quite a while. Reseal very heavy traffic areas once a year or as needed. Do NOT use paint on grout, it will attract more dirt than the unsealed grout, and you cannot get it off. It will also peel, eventually leaving a horrible looking mess. You would then be facing the prospect of having the grout removed and re-done, a very messy and dirty job. As a final note, you can professionally change the color of the grout. Go to a good quality tile, stone and granite store, and ask them for grout coloring. Its a special penetrating epoxy that comes in small plastic bottles. Buy the applicator as well it will make the job a lot easier. The applicator is like the flint roller on a bic lighter, a metal wheel with reeded edges. You apply the colorant just like using a roll on deodorant, only you need to try to keep on the grout line as best as you can. Good luck!!
