I have a large ship's wheel. How should I go about hanging it on the wall?

It looks like this... http://www.piratescovemarketplace.com/shipwheel24....

I think I found a stud. I own a drill. Other than that, I don't really know what to do to get it on there. Is there a special kind of bracket or something I need to keep it up there? Do I need to be worried about wires if I need to drill into the wall? Thanks?

u should use really long nails at all the main points of the wheel. i looked at the picture, looks cool. but put the nail evenly around the wheel, this way the wall has an even Weight

If you have a stud, let him hang it for you!

OK ok.....go to a home supplier and get a good vinyl covered hook that you can screw into the stud. Maybe you can put two in, which would be best. I might even recommend finding some manner of strapping the wheel to whatever mounting mechanism you choose to go into the stud. Someone at the home supply places should be able to help you with that.

    Visit www.hangmanstore.com

They have heavy duty brackets in different sizes/shapes for heavy items.

I used their z-bar to hang a 350 pound tiled wall design.

No long nails - they pull out.

Find a stud and use screws.

Doesn't somebody need that wheel for their boat? Just screw the stud and hang the wheel on it. If you hit wires or a pipe you'll know it. Good luck.
