What floor of an apartment will be quieter, first second or third?

The apartment I am moving to has three floors, the first floor is down seven steps on the "basement" level, second floor is seven steps up from street level and the third floor is up another seven steps. On what floor will I have the least amount of noise from fellow renters...like having to hear their stereo, TV or conversations?

I would have to believe the 3rd would be quietest. I live on the first floor, and with my neighbor walking around on her hardwood floors above, it's like living inside a snare drum.

My guess is the first floor because you only have one apartment above you.

The second floor will have an apartment under AND above so twice the noise.

The third floor will have only the second floor below but miscellaneous noises like planes travelling overhead, sonic booms, and inclimate weather like heavy rains on the third which has the only roof.

So again, my ANSWER is the FIRST FLOOR

Third floor is quieter, even the mid-floor, you will hear the footsteps of people walking around, and furniture movement. Also, the third floor offers more privacy. No one can look in.

The basement may be quiet but damp and cold and musty and cave-like. The third could be quiet if neighbors aren't too near. It could be hot, small and stuffy and have a long climb which makes it hard to move furniture and even lug grocieries. The second may be your best bet. Good luck!

My logic tells me the third will be quietest. You will have no one above you this way, no feet pounding on the floor.

3rd is quietest unless your neighbor listens to rave music 24/7.

But moving sucks and if you live in a hot area (i.e. texas) air conditioning causes electricity bills to suck due to rising heat from other apartments.

    The top floor probably.

the third, because you won't have to hear their foot steps all the time,

third will be fine....... you can njoy nice and calm atmosphere :-)

but you also should enjoy all the steps ofcourse....
