What is it with people who put their acount public views on Private!!?? and...?

and you can't email them....

Is this Option for the haters..who just like to post horrible things on other peoples questions? Or is it for people are embarrassed about what they post in..and don't want people seeing that..(such as their parents)

I don't know about you guys...but i certainly don't add people on my contacts..who i can't email!! I'd like to ask them questions..especially if their an expert in something...because it relates to their job, or they studied it in school..or any other reason.

Yahoo Answers is a really interesting and useful place, but these people are not as "helpful" as the rest of us.

Oh...and if your reason is that...people message you all the time saying your attractive and any thing of that matter...im sure simply saying that your not interested or their email made you uncomfortable, would probably make them back off or/and apologize.

One last thing...i'm not trying to get into an argument with anyone...those above just my thoughts...

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for all the anwsers!!!

Update:

ummm...if your worried your gonna get hundreds of emails from strangers....you can trust me on this one.. You won't.

Update 2:

if your worried about privacy...then your posts are probably not that helpfull in the first place.

When i anwser a persons question...i'm totally fine with them emailing me, asking for a more detailed anwser. Or another related specific question.

I agree w/ you. I don't add contacts who will not allow e-mail. There's something suspicious about that. Like they want just access to your Q&A just to troll you.

And you're also right about not being flooded with hate e-mail. Most members know that those can be sent back to Y!A staff with a report of harassment. Depending on the degree of hate, their account gets suspended

I do have a few troll contacts that take delight in reporting me.. But I appeal violations & the Q. or A was restored. It makes them lose community reporting credibility. But I keep them there b/c they do ask good questions. Even if I am directly against their point of view, I have learned a few things & it gives me a chance to answer the real question (not participate in rant) & maybe my answer will be useful to someone else who fell for the valid looking question but did not know ahead if time that asker was only trying to incite other to chat or rant for the very purpose of reporting the answerer.

People have a right to privacy settings. I wouldn't take that away from them. I don't presume to know what their reasons are.

    With one big exception:

People who don't allow email, or who don't allow public view of their questions and answers, should NEVER NEVER NEVER be allowed to post insults of other people's questions or answers. This is simply a cheap shot by cowards who know that nobody will respond to them.

I answer on yahoo for the fun of it. The answer is thoughtful and complete. If that's not good enough for you then do your own research on google. I don't want thousands of emails from complete strangers who have never heard about a library.
