What does the hospital send you home with after delivery?

I was just curious to known what types of things does the hospital send you home with after having your baby? ( I'm having my baby a Detroit's Hutzel Hospital, if anyone has had a baby there it would be great to know!).

The hospital that I delivered all of our babies in is quite generous. They sent us home with 2 of the 2qt. ready to feed formula, 4 of the 14oz. powder cans & about 96 (2 case of what I recall to be 48 in each) of the 2oz.rtf bottles & nipples. He takes Similac NeoSure for prematurity. Of course the diaper bag, a lot of extra J&J Head to Toe Wash & J&J Lotion. 2 Packages of diapers & wipes. They also have a little care package of bath salts & beads for the momma & a knitted bib, hat & booties for baby. It also had a stuffed animal & one of those birthstone brats type charms. Best of all though, they send you home with your little miracle.

With my last child I was sent home with

    - a couple of baby hats

    - the rest of the diapers from the small package the opened up for me

    - some wipes

    - a diaper bag from Similac- that contain a little formula, some breast feeding information

    - a small breast feeding book- very helpful BTW

    - a really nice baby blanket with the hospital name on it

    - My husband got a hospital scrubs top with our babies footprint on it

    - a little baby bath- never used it though

But I got a lot more from this hospital than from our first one

I got a free bag with the hospital's logo on it and for the baby, a small bowl for sponge bath, sample baby soap and a hair comb; leftover diapers in the bag that we opened and some hospital wipes. Also a nasal aspirator that works way better than the ones you can buy. For mom - a zip lock bag of medications: hydrocortizone, motrin, stool softener, witch hazel pads; ice packs, large sanitary napkins, and sitz bath.

If you take child birth preparation class at your hospital, most likely they will tell/show you what you'll get.

    Good luck

I had my babies at two different hospitals. The first sent me home with a box of pads for me, the enfamil care package and that was it, the second sent me home with two packages of pampers, 3 boxes of pre-made 2oz formula bottles, baby books, chapstick, and a 32oz insulated cup with straw and lid, and pacifiers. It really depends on the hospital I guess. I still pack my own diapers, wipes, pads and baby clothes though, just in case. Plus putting baby in the clothes you bring makes a big difference. Seeing my little girls in pink was much better than the standard white hospital clothes.

I had a Similac diaper bag there with coupons, a baby magazine, some leaflets, and a sample of formula.

The hospital gave me everything out of his little "cart." There was a hat, 4 bottles of prepared formula, diapers, little pieces of gauze that were kind of all purpose. Used for wipes, feedings, etc. They gave me a baby nose squeegee (can't think of the name!), two thermometers, and a measuring tape as well.

I CHOSE to go home the day after my babies were born. I hate hospitals. I had to stay 24 hours with my first because I had an epidural and complications. With my second, I could have left 3 hours after delivery but stayed one night. I believe I could have stayed longer with both but didn't want to.I had a wonderful midwife who supported us the first 6 weeks.

When I had my son I got a diaper bag with a can of free formula and some coupons and other info. about taking care of a newborn... I believe I might've also gotten a couple diapers to take home and and the petroleum jelly since I had my son circumcised... They don't give you a whole lot of stuff though...of course you can keep the binky the hospital gives you though.

i had my baby at garden city hospital in michigan (around where i live) and they sent me home with 24 hours worth of formula and diapers, some diaper rash cream, and a diaper bag from enfamil and lots of pamphlets to read.

all i needed to bring for the baby to leave the hospital was a car seat and an outfit

    good luck!

at our hospital we delivered at, you keep the baby with you. So you have a bassinet full of diapers, and aspirator, and pacifiers. They tell you what is in the draws is yours to take home with you. They also gave us about a two day supply of formula. We also got a crochet hat that the little old lady's make, a teddy bear that said the hospital name, sanitary pads and a goody basket for me, full of snacks. Our OBGYN gave us a t-shirt the said a star was born and the doctor's name who delivered her.
