They are trying to push him into the main even picture. This was just a way of promoting him in efforts to get him more popular with the fans.
Also, since Jeff Hardy is possibly leaving, they are gonna try to have Morrison take his spot as top face on Smackdown.

I loved JOHN even before he went to Smackdown, he is so hot and he is an awesome wrestler.
