The public option will not cause competition, because the government will always be able to offer a better deal than a private insurer, because there is no cost contraint, the government can just go into debt to pay for whatever it needs to. A private company can't do that.

Reform is needed, but they aren't looking at anything that is going to work at this time. They have the wrong mindset about what is needed to bring down costs so that insurance is affordable, and where they have the right mindset, their solution will not not work.
