No Audio on my laptop after updating?

I just re-installed Microsoft Windowns XP Prof. and I have no volume and/or in my tooltray. What do I need to do to get this resolved??? Everything I've tried so far to get the volume activiated has not worked.

    First open device manager and look to see if there is a yellow ! over something. Probably in the audio area. select that and right click for properties. Select the tab for drivers and then reinstall drivers. If that does not work select update drivers and be on the net.
