How likely am I to find a rare peice of US currency?

So I work for a grocery store and handle money for the front end. How likely am I to find a star note, ladder sequence of numbers, rare/interesting coin, etc. while working?

I'm not really interested in this to sell the items, but as a numismatist it is just really interesting to me!

Please read the article at the link below which shows the 10 most valuable US coins found in pocket change. I would say the chances are better than you might think, but most people do not know what to look for.

When I did this kind of work I always made sure to have some cash on me to buy any interesting coins I found. I found silver coins at least once a week in the 80s, probably less common now but you could still find some. Perhaps every few months I'd get a silver certificate.

Recently I went through $50 worth of cents. I found 2 Indian heads, perhaps a hundred wheat cents. I went through $75 worth of 50 cent pieces and found 2 silver coins and 8 40 percent silver. Not bad, I just spend the rest.

When I worked a register I would find old or interesting coins about once a month. Some people will get a deceased relatives old coins and spend them. So if a customer insists in paying all in change don't complain.

i also work in a grocery store as a manager and have found coins that way, but I would suggest waiting till the end of your shift and letting someone know what you are doing so you will not be suspected of taking from your till(it happens). Check your rolls of dimes, you will be surprised how many silver ones you will find.
