You cannot sponsor him to live here permanently.He can apply for a tourist visa and he has to apply on his own personal capacity.An invitation letter might help but it will not be the deciding factor for his approval.He has to demonstrate strong ties in his country so he will not be deemed to have the intention of overstaying.
