    Neither.

    Two different concepts.

    You can certainly discern contradictions of fact, whether or not you understand whatever the point is.

    Books one and two of Genesis ARE contradictory, in many places. It is easy to see, without needing to know the meaning, parable, or allegory contained therein.

    True. But just because you DO understand an author does not mean that he or she did not contradict himself or herself - and not understanding something is your own failing - a contradiction is inherent in its own argument.

    Much of the New Testament directly contradicts the writings of the Old Testament, whether you understand it or not. It's almost as if they were written for two completely different religions... hey... wait a second...

    It depends. I would disagree under most circumstances, though.
