Can we stop these questions about the Moon landings?
In this section the questions about moon landings are now becoming inappropriate, can we find a way of stopping this?
I must have answered questions on flags, shadows, stars, and the rest in there hundreds, I even now get them e-mailing directly!
Can we agree NOT to answer them, some of them might just go away if ignored?
Can we report each and every one of them in the hope that YA might just do something about them?
Why can they not go and search previous answers?
This is the Astronomy section, perhaps YA needs to create a Conspiracy Section, they could dump all the creationist questions there to!
WARNING! Anybody posting any comment trying to prove the Moon Landings did not happen as an answer to this question will be reported!
Stickadiddle:
There are times when opinion stops, too many people think that holding opinions that just dont make any sense whatsoever is fine, as it is 'their opinion', and they believe they are entitled to it, despite the elephant in the room that proves otherwise, this room is one that should be factual not 'opinion' based.
The Great Whizzy:
If freedom of speech was allowed in principle on this site, many more extreme opinions than already get through would be expressed, remember freedom of speech only extends to the point where the 'victim' bites back.

Indeed, there is only so much you can do to try and educate the ignorant.
I welcome free speach and differing opinions, but the moan hoax thing is not a matter of opinon, its a fact, along with other facts like, there is no planet X that will kill us in 2012, there is no 911 conspiracy, Diana died in a tragic car accident, there was no 2nd gunman on the grassy knoll blah blah.
To propogate untruths and to willfully mislead members of the public in the name of free speach is a crime against common sense and dignity. Such people should be stripped of their rights and dumped in a cesspit.

I think reporting those answers wouldn't be much use. There's a right to freedom of speech. Don't get me wrong, mate, but I wish NASA would really come up with a way to shut the mouths of people who get such ridiculous ideas. And yes, that's a good idea, creating a section for conspiracy theorists. And no, there will always be some nut cases who keep on flogging the same old dead horses. If you don't answer those questions, then someone else will ask some question again. Forget it. Just ignore them, maybe Y!A will create the new section.

I couldn't agree more, but I doubt there is anything we can do about it. There are a lot more ignorant people on here than even remotely intelligent and it is not going to stop any time soon.
If I can tell that somebody genuinely wants explanations about various things that confuse them about the landings, I answer the questions. However, I have been leaving the ones alone that are just being ridiculous and trying to start something. Maybe if we don't answer, they will stop asking, but as long as anybody answers, even if it's just calling them idiots, that justifies what they were doing in the first place.
A "Conspiracy Theories" section on here would be nice, then we could report people for placing their question in the wrong place. If it's not a scientifically based question, but in the Science and Mathematics category it could be flagged for not being "Categorized correctly" which is one of the Y!A community guidelines.

If our technologies has progressed lots why did my mum and dad pay $3,000 for a 1964 Chevy that have been given approximately 25 MPG and now we ought to pay $30,000 for a 2008 Chevy that gets 25 MPG? because of the fact technologies has no longer progressed, it is the reason. you're being fooled by potential of electronics technologies that HAS progressed very much. yet all sorts of transportation technologies has stagnated, inclusive of autos, planes and rockets. it would be basically as high priced and unsafe on the instant because it exchange into in 1972 whilst the final Moon touchdown befell.

It is sort of ironic that I have spent my entire career in aerospace engineering, so I personally consider at least some of these assertions (as they are occasionally presented), as insults. But they cannot be successfully reported as such. Most people don't see it that way. Besides, my purpose in visiting this site is not to find others to report or try to impose my sensitivities on others. I confine my reporting to blatant violations. But it is interesting to see what I can lose points for saying, while some folks can essentially call the career of many hard working folks an illusion and not be called for it. I have stopped responding to most of these questions, since my disagreement is at times interpreted as an insult.

Challenge them I say. It may be a case of a few learning a thing or two. The other thing it does is exposing the fact that their simple idea's need re thinking and that real evidence exists to counter the claim. This is then out in the open for all to see.

this is a common concern. look at the answers forum.
i no longer respond to moon hoax or 2012 questions. i too view the former as insulting and/or trolls, and used to report them as such. the latter are just plain nonsensical, and i did not hesitate to say so.
in the process i got my account suspended: apparently questioning such things is ok in yahoo's book, while honest responses are not. describing 2012 as "utter nonsense" is insulting, apparently. so is questioning the professional qualifications of moon hoax questioners. and woe to anybody who says what they think of astrology...
none of this slows down the reporting trolls, who are still mining ancient history and reporting any answers that do not agree with their pet delusions.

@stickadiddle: This is not a question of opinion anymore. Asking the very same questions over and over and over (and over) again, when it has alraedy been asked less than a few hours before (and thus is sometimes even visible on the same page of questions) surely is beyond what Y!A is supposed to be. And it's kind of rude in my eyes.

Good question.
This happens in many categories on Yahoo answers. The media go mad on a subject, and suddenly everyone is here asking questions about the obvious.
Just ignore them is my advice, but I must admit they take up too much of our time trying to answer genuine questions on our related subject.
Doubt that Yahoo answers can do much about this, as we all have a right to ask and answer as we please, within reason, but you have a very good point.

Trying to shut-up opposing views is a sure sign that you aren't convinced of your viewpoint, or that you have questions about it. Let them make fools of themselves - the best thing to do when a fool starts talking is to sit back and let them talk. Their logic is defective and it becomes obvious to all.
