How far do you let your sub-teens wander without parental supervision.?

I grew up in New York and my parents never had limits on my travels, I started going to Staten Island beaches (from Brooklyn) by my self when I was 9. By age 12, I had traveled as far as the subways would let me, and by 14, I was going to Jersey to Palisades Park.

Has the world changed so much?

Yes, the world has changed that much. When I was a kid, we played around the neighborhood all day and went home for meals. Today if you let that happen, your kid might not come home at all.
