How late would you go for a bike ride in your neighborhood?

Gawd, I haven't ridden a bike in years!

Though I did see a few of my minions riding a bicycle built for eight the other night... I had to blow them up, it looked too goofy to let pass. Especially seeing as how the bike was hot pink...

Desert temperatures usually require that no bike rides begin until at least an hour after the sun has set. Unless you're a masochist. Or some type of lava-like creature.

As far as a safety issue, I've never heard of anything happening over here. But then again, I live on the outer edge of the city, right across from a firehouse and only about 2 blocks from a police station.

Now, the south side of the city on the other hand ... I'd probably drive with my doors locked and windows up.

Funny! In my neighborhood, say, if I went out for a bike ride at 1 am, the police would probably stop me and ask me why I was riding a bike at that hour, and did I need a ride somewhere, was everything okay? I live in a small town.

A couple of years ago in Houston, I was riding home from work at 2:00 a.m., and three muggers on foot went after me...

Fortunately, I was practically raised on a bicycle, and my reflexes were good, and I outran them...they gave chase for about a city block, but they ran out of steam...one of them even managed to touch my backpack, but I got away...
