Not enough. Some work has been done on alternative voting schemes and alternative consensus-development methods. A scientific mindset helps us observe how government doesn't function properly. Then, we can try to think of ways to change that. It's really hard to prevent corruption and abuse of power. We can work toward improvement, but 'perfect' will never be an appropriate descriptor. We need good incentive structures to encourage good behavior and discourage bad. It's not an easy task. And it's even harder to get people to give up power for the greater good.

Science and Politics do not mix. In fact, they are in direct odds with eachother.

Sure, the benefits of science can help with the local environment in the form of Green ordinances, cleaner water, and technology for Public Safety but in general, the two are like oil and water.

No, science cannot make government perfect. Only the people can do that.

The only problem is, most of the people don't know that.

The government doesn't like when we test with animals. So politicians are out.
