My dog is shedding, what to do?

I have a lab that is shedding like crazy. I brushed enough hair off her yesterday to cover the Abominable Snowman. Apart from brushing her every day, what else can I do?

Update:

O.k., I'm going to rewrite my question so I don't get accused of not doing my homework. LOL.

Hi! I have a 5yo lab that has shed from day 1. I knew she was going to shed when she picked us. I have a vaccum with a tool, but she's afraid of it. I also have a shedding blade that I use regularly. This year she seems to be shedding more than normal ( global warming? ), and I'm afraid she's going to be bald before summer is out. Are there any vitamins that can help her keep her hair?

    Hi Boomer,

I would go to Petsmart and buy a good shedding brush for your lab..Brush his or hers every other day and give him or her a bath at lease once a week..You want your Lab to be clean and smell like roses..Lol.. Make sure you brush her or him out every time you give her or him a bath..They will shed like crazy..I have a Border Collie/Corgi mix 2 of them..They shed really bad and I brush them out every other day.. You wouldn't think they would have any hair left on them after brushing then.. Lol.. But your dog and mine are worth the job of keeping them up and looking pretty.. Hehehe..

Grooming doesn't get much easier than with a Lab, but the breed does shed--a lot. Buy a quality vacuum cleaner and brush your dog daily, especially when he's shedding, to get out the loose hair.

Labs need a bath about every two months or so to keep them looking clean and smelling good. Of course, if your Lab rolls in a mud puddle or something foul, which he's apt to do, it's fine to bathe him more often.

get this brush that is called a rake. it will pull out alot of the dead hair and it will slow it down alot. i personaly brush the poo out of my dog. or use the rake. when i had a chow it was a never ending story. dogs are easier then a kid. at least its just brushing. not teaching it to drive.

Hire some one to do the grooming other than that - you should have done your home work - they shed - the only ones that dont are poodles and poodle mixes

Try adding salmon oil to her food. Start with 5 capsules a day.
