Which car is better for lots of driving - 40,000KM per year?
I'm looking for a car that will be reliable, and will hold up well for doing lots of driving. I drive about 40,000KM per year for work purposes. I do lots of highway driving, but sometimes I also have to travel on gravel roads that are of poor quality. I have an old Subaru that I want to replace. I realize that a $19,000 Subaru, which is at a dealership near me, is BEYOND MY BUDGET. And there are NO cheaper Subarus in good condition being sold in my area.
I want to choose between a 2005 Toyota Camry LE for $15,000, or
a 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5SL for $14,000. The Maxima is more luxury oriented (Leather and 18" wheels) which gets me skeptical about how it will hold up on bad roads, and lots of highway driving. The Camry seems more of an ordinary car, and when I test drove it I liked that it's very quiet riding.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I asked to choose between these 2 Japanese cars. I'm not planning to invest in European craptraps such as Volkswagen Jetta or Passat. I am very familiar with the cost of parts and reliability of these autos.

You can rely on the the Camry, its much more stable and has better ride than the Maxima, and long rides would be easy.I have a 2004 camry, and i find highway driving very relaxing, its also much more economical to run than the Maxima.
