Iran offered us Osama bin Laden's son's head on a silver platter, why did Bush refuse this offer?

It may have been a case of hitting the target but missing the opportunity. Reports last week said Saad bin Laden, Osama bin Laden's fourth son and a midranking al-Qaeda operative, was killed by a recent CIA Predator strike. But six years ago, the U.S. had an opportunity to get him alive — and lost it when the Bush Administration decided to pull away from cooperation with Iran.

Is Barry Marx blaming Clinton? And we are not to mention Bush a mere 2 years out of office? That's interesting. Bush had no interest in doing anything but attacking Iraq. See Downing Street Memo for proof.

Why didn't you word your question to read "Iran offered the U.S. Saad bin Laden, but wanted conditions, but the U.S. refused, counter offering conditions". Oh that's right... it would be counter productive to your agenda.

You provided the Time source, but obviously didn't read it. If you had, you would have seen that the U.S. tried to negotiate with Iran, but it broke down. Since there were a bunch that would need to be repatriated to their native countries, that tells me that maybe the Bush administration didn't want the hassle or didn't want more at Club Git-mo.

Instead of being a sheep, led and fed by your party line, why don't you stop playing into their partisan crap and become an American.

Source(s): Common sense... Sheep get led to shorn, used for their coat, and then sent to slaughter when they out live their usefulness. Stop acting like sheep.

To think of it, we could trace Osama all the way back to the Reagan administration. As far as Clinton goes, he did nothing in fear of the wrath from the muslim community - AKA Al' Quaida. At the time, Osama was not really as bad a threat. if Clinton took In Osama, the 9/11 incident might have been even worse than it was.

That would be because Bush and his administration were incompetent.

Iran worked with the United States to get rid of the Taliban in Afghanistan, including paying for the Afghan troops serving under U.S. command. Iran helped establish the U.S.-backed government and then contributed more than $750 million to the reconstruction of Afghanistan. Iran expressed interest in a broader dialogue in 2002 and 2003. Instead, it was labeled part of an "axis of evil."

He was a little teenager who didn't have any operational role in Al Queda.

    That's why.

Plus bush thinks that not talking to your adversaries is a sound approach to foreign policy. I think its an idiotic policy.

Refusing to talk doesn't work in marriages, and it doesn't work in between governments.

If you'd read the article, it answers your question. Good giref.

"What the Iranians wanted was a multilateral mechanism, initiated by the U.S., to get the Arab intruders off their hands. Such a mechanism would have given U.S. interrogators access to the al-Qaeda operatives (whom the Iranians would presumably have detained if they once again tried to cross the border). But, says Everett, the Bush Administration insisted that the Iranians deport the Arabs without any preconditions."

Osama bin Laden was extremely effective as the "boogey man" and keeping the Homer Simpsons in this country in line.

Why would bush have forfeited that Ace in the hole?

This is because Iran was using him as a bargaining chip. If we accepted him then, now we would be in thier debt and would have to throw them support towards nuclear weapons.
