How can i create a wedding cake?
My wedding cake i have chosen is a three tiered ivory cake, and in between the tiers there will be fresh roses BUT how do i build it up from cake to cake. IE do i use foam or oasis inbetween to put or hold the flowers still on... I am doing the cake myself due to lack of funds but still am struggling to pull it all togather. Thanks for any input Jess.

Well wedding/stacked cakes, whether there is space between the layers or not, use a system of support "beams" (usually made from wooden dowels) to support each layer of cake.
Cakes with flowers usually don't have oasis in them, since that's not really edible and will be directly touching the cake. Usually the cake layers are held apart with tiers or doweling and then the flowers are placed in between the layers carefully arranged to disguise the supports.
Have you ever made a wedding cake before? They are actually very complicated to make, even for experienced bakers. They aren't just cakes, but edible "buildings" almost, since there is a lot of planning and architecture that goes into making them stand and stay together.
Good Luck!

Well, you must set in pillar in each cake. About 4-8 on each tier. You do not need them in the top of course because that is what you eat on your first anniversary.
And once you have those placed in the correct positions, you can work on putting the next tier on.
Check out the directions that one pastry chef posted.

Hi Jessica:
As others have said, you will need to use pillars to hold up one layer to the next. I have, however, seen stacked layers one on top of the other.
DO NOT use any styrofoam or oasis....those are NOT intended for anything that would be eaten!! No, no, no.
Google Martha Stewart Weddings, or simply look on Google images for wedding cakes. Here are a few:

Dowel each cake as above pic first then........
use short pillars, then just lay the roses in between each tier. Put the largest cake at the bottom then put three pillars secured by dowels in a traangle shape then put second biggest on top of these pillars then repeat then smallest on top.

Sugar molding is great dont over do it, simplicity is best for diy cakes and use the flowers or ribbon to dress it up. It will be great no worries

They have the tiers at Hobby Lobby.
Advice: practice making one before you make "the one" .

What do you mean by "build it up"? As in.... pillars? Is that what you are asking?
