Should MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando Run?

Should he run for President or any National Position for next year's Election will you Vote for him?

Personally I wouldn't because his policies makes Filipino lives miserable and that his traffic management scheme like the ever famous U-Turn Slots like in EDSA and Quezon Avenue have left more than just ordinary traffic collisions. Quezon City has the highest vehicular accidents and one of the major causes is the Concrete Barriers on poorly lighted streets.

Those ugly Pink-Blue Foot bridge have not contributed in beautifying the Metro and most of these foot bridge are without roof, just imagine people going up and down the stairs with Umbrella on a rainy day. Not to mention it violates the Accessibility Law for disabled and of course the elderly who have to climb the steps.

Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Scheme (Coding), is a band aid fix, and creates vague effectiveness since the vehicular volume of say 1-2 (Monday) is different than of 7-8 (Thursday) such that it can not be generalized like a magic bullet since secondary roads and tertiary roads are often not congested. And those who can afford just buy a second car which makes the Scheme ineffective and cause nuisance to the Motorist.

Other than that I find him unfitting to intelligently handle the country.

What is your opinion?

Update:

Askal: If we can only export Politicians, they will be a valuable asset to the Republic's Economy. Perhaps we could lessen the appropriations for debt servicing since they could be sold as commodity.

Update 2:

I think Greevy Thorn is from Marikina.

Update 3:

The population density of Marikina is no where near the population and demographics of the whole Metro Manila, such as what is for Marikina could not be for the whole Metro.

Yes Filipinos need discipline so is the Government Officials who profess to serve the public, but hear less the Public out cry of his tyrannical approach. There is no Silver Bullet to traffic congestion but any law should be balanced and no one should be exempted including Wang Wang boys in Government.

They should not use their position to irritate motorist whole simply want to get to work and home and use streets that their taxes paid for.

Just look at Sidecars, tricycles, Buses, and Jeepney is this a gauge for progress? Or Trucks that delivers and Cars that drives for earning a living enough for politician to use to go on Junkets?

mr. fernando shouldn't run, the philippines is not yet ready for him.

his concern with correcting the filipino image has been met with human right abuse claims.

in my humble opinion, he has made the traffic systema adapt to the european standard without having to spend quantities of money.

the u-turn slots are his versions of the international roundabouts.

according to studies in the EU, the roundabout is a more efficient way to control the flow of traffic in an intersection. that's why most of the intersection in the EU is being turned to roundabouts, same goes in the middle east.

we should be glad that there is such a project as the foot bridge. it may need accessibility for the disabled but nevertheless we should be thankful it was planned and executed to be placed there.

based on my experience as a driver, with regards to the increasing number of vehicles, the program mr. bayani has for our traffic system is a bit short of a miracle.

we just somewhat forget that because we'd rather hear the complaints of those who would break the law and cry for having been penalized for it.

While his favorite colors leave much to be desired, Bayani Fernando is widely known as a no-nonsense, firm leader who get things done.

He made Marikina the sanest and cleanest during his tenure as mayor of that town. Then when he becomes the MMDA Chairman, Metro Manila's chaotic streets and traffic improved. Sidewalks were cleared of illegal vendors, roads are more passable, pedestrians are more disciplined.

He was even called by some as Philippines' Lee Kwan Yeu. He may not be telegenic or showbiz type like Erap, but he already proves he can handle the most difficult jobs thrown his way...Which is good, since he was paid to do his job, not to be loud and corrupt like many of our politicians are. Some his policies may sound harsh...But then again, we Filipinos really need some dose of disciplinary measures and perhaps more to get our country going, and he is the leader who can deliver it without batting an eyelash.

PS: Nope Chinaman, I am not from Marikina. I know you are upset because there are days you cannot drive, but ever since BF imposed his rules, the condition in Metro Manila improved. Too bad some people sees the old ways as better because they are are more comfortable with being undisciplined and wild.

For example: some people are upset they cannot say "para!" and get off anywhere they like anymore. Illegal vendors who occupies half of the streets and have their rotting, stinking wares are not allowed to become eyesore and traffic problem anymore, jaywalkers who contributes immensely to the terrible traffic jams during rush hours are now required to use the foot bridges, abusive car drivers have to follow new street rules, and the schemes prevented too many cars at narrow streets going out at same time.

Yeah you can criticize BF, but if you can name any other leaders who made even 1/4 impact to the city, or have never been embroiled in scandalous corruption or any other nakakasukang kabalbalan, I will vote that manok of yours.
