Can someone more eloquent help me out?

On Larry King tonight, Justin Barrett said "I am not racist. I did not intend any racial bigotry, harm or prejudice in my words. I sincerely apologize that these words have been received as such."

That's the classic non-apology apology - "sorry you were so dense as to take what I said the wrong way." He previously claimed his statements were "taken out of context."

So, some please lay out for me the proper, non-racist context for referring to someone who is black as a "banana-eating jungle monkey."

Any of you "reverse racism" conservatives want to take a crack at it? You're usually pretty good at laying out scenarios that are the opposite of reality.

Update:

That should be "someone please lay out..."

If it walks like a duck (racist), talks like a duck (racist) then it is a duck (racist).

Not very bright either, expecting that lame 'apology' to be taken as anything but the crap it was.

Probably run for political office, he sounds like one already.

It was a joke, isn't that the line liberals use when justifying making fun of Sara Palins 14 yo and Down Syndrome child.

Edit: The president called the police stupid for doing their job before knowing the facts and except for a Clinton-est style BS response has not apologized to Crowley or the police in general.

The guy was mad and said things he shouldn't, just like Gates and the president did. Racism is a two way street and just because it is said in an eloquent and articulate way does not make it less so.

No, it was not a joke. And I agree; how can that phrase not be considered racist and bigoted?

Here's the link to the entire email (it was sent in criticism of how an article was written about the Gates arrest):

He has other lovely phrases like "That paragraph was as pathetic as jungle monkey gibberish – I might as well ax you the question, “Is this your first test at reporting?” "

"Your final statement reads, “Gates, whose great success has allowed him to trancscend the racial divide-” to which I ask, when did he transcend? He indeed has transcended back to a bumbling jungle monkey."
