When does after midnight end?

In the Gremlins movies they say don't feed them after midnight,but when does that end? If you think about it,every hour is after midnight until midnight comes back again.So the only time you can feed a Gremlin is at midnight,right?

    I'm guessing what they mean is the time between midnight and when the sun rises.
