Does this '90 Nissan 300zx look like a good buy?

I think if i get them closer to $7,000 it will be a good deal. I am buying knowing that I will probably have to replace the transmission in the next year or two. At that point I will probably put a manual in. What is your opinion? http://www.hooversouthtown.com/detail-1990-nissan-...

Update:

I have decided that it would not be worth it to drop a manual in it. I have already gotten a few estimates to replace the tranny. So I will get them down to a good kbb based price then subtract the cost of the new transmission. If they go for it I think it is a great deal. Any opinions?

The car itself looks really great and well looked after the wear ont he car itself looks like it has hardly been used and really great for it year.

I would say without seeing it it is a good buy, they do happen and at that low mileage,i have owned a few cars with have silly low proven mileage for the years they are,but the fact is they are not always used as a daily car,so you do get the low miles ones.

The transmission side if it does not need changing then i would not.I feel that the fact it is an auto worries you, buying an auto made me worry once as i had driven some automatic which where rubbish but, wheni test drove this particular one to buy i was shocked how great it drove i have since owned manual and automatics, and learned that the term automatic means so many different setups in so many cars,my autmatic atm is rapid and offers instant power with a manual overdrive button which i see on that 300zx also,i also have a power button for redline power changes and a snow button for those wet changes.

After all automatic setup in all its forms is offered in the Buaggti Veryron,Porsche 911 turbo,Ferrari Enzo, merc AMG,Mustang,Challenger,Evo X,GT-R 2009,f1 cars,Supramk4,3000gt,

DB9,370z,Skyline,to name a few and hardly boring cars,so when people say they hate autmatics well which ones and which setups as each feels different.

NO! This is not a good deal. You can get a manual non turbo for about $4000-$5000. This is an automatic making the car even more worthless. You can get a pretty decent twin turbo for about $8000 but with some (a lot) miles on it where I live. I think you can find a better deal. Plus the tranny is going to cost you an extra couple of thousand when it breaks, not to mention the price when installing a manual tranny on an already auto car.

Service Records! It is much better to buy a more expensive car that has a lot of records than a cheaper one without any. Also I would bring a mechanic with you to the buy to check over the car. It is not really expensive when you look at how much it may save you in the long run.

How can a 1990 Nissan only have 85000 miles on it? It has to be a rebuilt engine. I would check the Kelley Blue Book first to see if they have a value attached to it. Its a nice looking car but its really old, I dont know.

Just remember your looking at a 20 year old car. 88,500 miles means the valve covers are about to leak suspension system parts are wearing. That car must have been someone's baby it looks very nice. 200 hp and automatic trans :-( the real draw back timing belt needs to have been replaced at 60 thousand miles.
